Review of White Noise the Movie
Recently I viewed the movie White Noise starring Michael Keaton, and I was worried about how Hollywood would represent the field of EVP investigations.
Unfortunately Hollywood has used exaggeration, misrepresentation and lies to sell their movies about any paranormal activity. Cases in point, the Amityville Horror, Poltergeist, Exorcist (even though the later movie still spooks the heck out of me!). So I went to view this movie with the same expectations as all before.
I have to say it is a very good movie, and of course they did exaggerate a lot of points, but the base of the movie EVP's was very interesting. And the message of the movie you should not get involved with something you do not know or are not prepared for - is a very good message indeed.
There have been cases of people picking up EVP's from the white noise on their TV, as the two characters of the movie did. But as with the Hollywood norm - in the movie they are bombarded with these messages, and evil seeks them out.
This worries me. Yes anyone wanting to do EVP's should go in with an open mind, but not with an ignorant mind of the science. Also - hopes can fade if one mainly goes into it to seek a communication from a loved one. In the movie he contacts his wife. Unfortunately about 85% of the time or more, this wont happen. If they need to contact you - they will - but its best to look for other signs, even in a dream. But if you do not ever experience anything - don't worry. Maybe it was something you over looked. But mainly go with the fact that they are in a better place, and that they will always be with you as long as you don't let their memory die.
Back to the Movie. I don't want to say to much here just in case readers haven't seen it yet. I do encourage those who haven't to go see it. Then after the movie - discuss with others and come to your own conclusions. On a scale of 1 to 10 - in suspense I give this movie an 8.5, but in reality, I give it about a 4.5.
